About the School

As part of the University of Pittsburgh system, the Swanson School of Engineering plays a vital role in the educational, research and professional development of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the region. Five major areas join the School's strengths in education and research and drive them on a continuing mission to further engineering, engineers, and the world around them. These include Bioengineering, Nanoscience and Engineering, Sustainability, and Manufacturing and Product Innovation.

The Swanson School of Engineering provides hands-on education in these areas, thoroughly preparing engineering graduates to step into exciting career opportunities in advanced research and industry.
