Undergraduate Academic RegulationsCalculation of Student's QPAOnly credits and quality points earned by students at the University of Pittsburgh are used in the calculation of the QPA. Probation/DismissalA student can only be placed on academic probation if their cumulative QPA is less than a 2.00. As long as their cumulative QPA is a 2.00 or better and they are making satisfactory progress towards their degree then they are considered to be in good academic standing. Students who receive less than a 2.00 QPA for a term, but whose cumulative remains above a 2.00 will be issued a warning letter. If a student's overall QPA is less than 2.00 for two consecutive terms, they will be subject to suspension or dismissal from the School of Engineering. Students who are suspended may reapply for admission after one year. Students who are dismissed are not permitted to return to the School of Engineering. Honors ListTerm List: Student must have (1) earned a term QPA of at least 3.25, (2) completed a minimum of 15 credits of academic work for letter grades at the University of Pittsburgh, (3) completed a minimum of 6 credits of work for letter grades in the term of eligibility. Dean's List: Student must have (1) earned a QPA of 3.25 for both cumulative and term, (2) completed a minimum of 30 credits of academic work for letter grades at the University of Pittsburgh, (3) completed a minimum of 6 credits of work for letter grades in the term of eligibility. Graduating with HonorsTo be considered for honors at graduation, a student must earn at least 60 credits at the University of Pittsburgh.
