Peer Advising

The Peer Advising Program is a new initiative begun in the School of Engineering in the Fall term of 2005. Peer Advisors staff office hours in the Freshman Engineering Program Office in B80 Benedum Hall to help first year students choose classes, make their course schedules, and assist with other questions and issues that may arise in the freshman year. Sometimes, it's helpful to have an experienced student's perspective on how to juggle classes, how to study, how to manage time, or how to navigate the waters of a large University like Pitt. In cases like this, Peer Advisors are a helpful resource. They can also be helpful in answering simpler questions like how to drop a class, or how to choose an elective.

Peer Advisors also offer helpful advice by sponsoring and leading programs on study skills, time management, and other academic success issues.

If you have an idea for how the Peer Advisors can help students in other ways, please contact Jill Harvey, Coordinator for Student Services in the Freshman Engineering Program at .
