News Dr. Luis ChaparroDr. Luis ChaparroAssociate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Interdisciplinary Collaboration: A Virtual Laboratory for Engineering and MathematicsDue to the cross-functional nature of the field of engineering, Luis Chaparro, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering (pictured in his Benedum Hall laboratory in the Swanson School of Engineering), has been collaborating with Juan Manfredi, professor and chair of the Department of Mathematics, to create a virtual laboratory for engineering and mathematics.
Professor Chaparro’s research interests include statistical signal processing, time-frequency analysis, nonlinear image processing, and multidimensional system theory with applications in biomedical systems and wireless communications. He is a senior member of the IEEE; associate editor of the Journal of the Franklin Institute; past associate editor of the IEEE Transaction on Signal Processing; and past member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Statistical Signal and Array Processing. He was the recipient of the Beitle-Veltri Award for Teaching Excellence in 2005, one of the Swanson School of Engineering’s most prestigious awards. |
